PAST PROJECTS

A movie is never finished, only abandoned (George Lucas).
If that’s the case, then here are some of our abandoned projects!

ONE FLU NORTH

We have recently completed a short film called One Flu North.Written by Nick Colla, and produced by Chris Hocking and Nick Colla, the film was originally intended for Tropfest 2010, but unfortunately it didn’t make the cut. It is now headed to the festival circuit. Benjamin Hidalgo shot the short on a Canon 5D MKII – and it looks amazing! Chris Hocking, Jacqui Hocking and Nick Colla edited the film. We will be adding some behind the scenes videos, plus lots more shortly… Stay tuned!

HANDLE WITH CARE

Draught Films, with the assistance latenite films have recently thrown together an entry for the Melbourne 48 Hour Film Festival titled Handle With Care. Despite the tight deadline, thanks to an AMAZING team of people, we pulled off something truly fantastic. Not only is the story great (especially considering it was written in one night by our very own Nick Colla!), but the whole film looks and sounds amazing. The production team consisted of Chris Hocking, David Christison, La-Ra Hinckeldeyn, Lucy Honigman, Nick Colla, Thom Holt and Shelley Dawe. Every single person in this list went above and beyond… So thank you all! Handle With Care took out the Best Script and Best Use of Character awards at the competition.

SAKOOZ TEASER/TRAILER

SAKOOZ is our feature film concept that is currently still in the development stages. We have however completed a three minute teaser/trailer, directed and produced by Chris Hocking, to use as a promotional tool for the concept. Aliens, explosions, action, adventure, love, and soft toys – putting together this trailer was not only incredibly fun, but also by far one of the hardest things we have ever had to do as human beings. Epic is the only way to describe it!
We are currently in the process of putting together a proper promotional website for the teaser/trailer. Stay tuned!

SUPERB MENURA

Superb Menura is our second major project, moving onwards and upwards from Happy Sundaes. Shot on DVCPro50 and recorded using 5.1 Surround Sound, this is a 15-minute short documentary giving you a sneak peak into the life of Alex Maisey, a young lyrebird expert who lives in the Dandenong Rangers. Unconventional, without any dialogue through the entire film, this film truly is a visual masterpiece that skilfully gives you a unique insight into the world of another human being.

DORITOS COMPETITION ENTRY

We recently threw together a quick last minute entry for the Doritos Competition. Written and directed by Nick Colla, this 29 second commercial was shot on a Sony Z1P, and used what little odd-ball lighting and sound gear we had lying around at the time. Unfortunately we didn’t make it into the top ten of the competition, so no masses of money or fame for us! But at least the response of YouTube has been positive…

NIGEL (BLOG)

After setting up our first blog we thought, why stop there? Why not have more? So we put together a blog for a fictional behind the scenes documentary maker called Nigel. While we busily tried to put together the SAKOOZ teaser/trailer, Nigel was there, filming away, generally running a muck. Although the site isn’t been updated any more (at least for the moment), you can still check it out, and watch all his past video entries. Enjoy!
